Bio

Bode is a visual artist from Austin, TX and the founder of the largely popular lettering community, Goodtype (1.1m followers), established in 2013. She is the author of "Goodtype: The Art of Lettering" published by Rizzoli NYC and the Creative Director for the lifestyle brand, Low Sun Surf House. She loves to create in the form of painting, mixed media, digital art, film, curating and poetry. Her work is inspired by ancient wisdoms, nature, harmonious color and perhaps a little bit of hip hop and rock 'n roll, whether it be a fine art print or a mixed media flag, bag or jacket with found imagery and scribbled quotes or lyrics. When Bode isn’t creating, she can be found hiking or paddling with her dog, Teddy or headed to the mountains with her snowboard. She is rarely found indoors. If she is indoors, she is probably painting, meditating, eating cereal or drinking a smoothie and she is most definitely listening to music. Bode began her art career at a young age, influenced by her mother’s beautiful oils on canvas and her father’s vintage hat, matchbook and concert ticket collections. She began to create a lot of mixed media collages on heavyweight paper, integrating acrylics, typography and found imagery. Bode is just as much a curator as she is a creator. Her work is a reflection of the many pieces of found imagery, scribbles, quotes, lyrics and unique experiences she's collected throughout her adventurous one-of-a-kind life. Bode earned a first degree black belt in American Tae Kwon Do at the age of 11. Bode jumped out of a plane once and circumnavigated the entire country of Iceland with a stand-up paddleboard.
