金關係，The Secrets of Glitch

We begin in dreams to see a character written in gold futures. Far away. Searching... for 金山 (goldMountain). Always moving. Changing shape. Distant. Travel all the way around the world, cross the horizon to a new place of prosperity, so far West that we arrive in the East. In the 1800s the phrase 金山 (Gold Mountain) came to mean “California” and more specifically “San Francisco”. Land of new technologies and opportunities, i imagine the same search, here today, in the capital city of the nation of 台北，台灣 (Taipei, Taiwan).

Francisco López inn the Spring of 1842, you dreamt under an oak tree inn the afternoon, Californian sun, the mineralogist, López, dreams a river of gold. López awoke under The Oak of the Golden Dream, dug up wild onions && made the 'discovery' of gold, clinging to their roots, now Placerita Canyon, became the place they filmed the films that inspired my Glitch Western, Out West, so far West, California. From mountains to oceanic edges of the waters, state of dreams, a dream state, so far West that we go East, 金山 (goldMountain), where dreams come true for you.

Drawings and paintings of hands are some of the earliest known Art. ~45,500 years ago artists created figurative and narrative Art in Southeast Asia, the place now known as Indonesia, in Leang Tedongnge cave, on the island of Sulawesi. This ancient Art includes paintings of peoples’ own hands as a form of self-portrait. 

Our hands, as artists, are also the metaphorical ‘hand of the artist.’ As a metaphor, the ‘hand of the artist’ means our own unique styles and our special vision, our ‘touch.’ Tracing these touches from ancient times to today, we find ourselves in The Fourth Industrial Revolution. Artists can now use AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) systems to generate images. In this Age of AI, my Glitch Art is very much focused on how i, as an artist, touch the Art, transforming it into my own unique vision of 金山 (goldMountain).
